Location and what to see

Getting there

Noon Central Hotel is on Rruga Reshit Çollaku, a quiet side street a couple of blocks from Tirana's main boulevard. Tirana International Airport Mother Teresa is about 15 km away by road, roughly 20 to 25 minutes by taxi outside rush hour. The cheapest link is the airport shuttle bus, which runs around the clock, leaves on the hour and takes 30 to 45 minutes to reach Skanderbeg Square, about a ten-minute walk from the hotel; tickets cost 400 lek and can be paid by card or in cash. Taxis and ride-hailing apps are widely used and inexpensive, and the hotel can also arrange a paid shuttle or car hire. Albania's rail network barely touches the capital: the nearest station is at Kashar, some 9 km out, so intercity travel is done by bus from the terminals on the city's outskirts.

What to see

Almost everything worth seeing in central Tirana is walkable from the door. Rinia Park is 230 metres away, the House of Leaves — the former secret-police listening station, now an award-winning museum on surveillance — about 320 metres, and Skanderbeg Square, with the National History Museum and the Et'hem Bey Mosque, roughly 520 metres. The Pyramid of Tirana, rebuilt as a cultural centre with steps you can climb for a rooftop view, sits a few minutes further along the boulevard, and the Blloku district behind it fills with cafés, bars and restaurants in the evening. Allow half a day for Bunk'Art 1, the huge underground bunker museum on the city's outskirts, or visit the more central Bunk'Art 2 instead. Museums generally close on Mondays. May, June, September and October bring the most comfortable weather; July and August can be uncomfortably hot in the city.
